The orange flames of the campfire licked the black sky, the scorching heat giving off the occasional pop and crackle of burning wood. The blazing fire stood out like a beacon in the dark, illuminating a circle of warm light around it. At gave off that ashy campfire smell that almost seems to hold the essence of late summer nights.
In the dark the campfire made everyone have a ghostly glow and it's sharp crackles and pops were like gunfire in the silent night. The smell of smoke was thick and musty in my lungs.
